Today, May 1, Krita Foundation proudly announced the release and general availability of the third maintenance update to the Krita 3.1 stable series of the open-source digital painting app for all supported platforms.

Shipping with a ton of bug fixes, as well as a handful of cool new features, Krita 3.1.3 is here two months after the previous update to implement an option that finally allows users to run multiple instances of the app. It also implements the Cut, Copy, Paste, and Object Ordering context menu actions for the default tool.

"We also have a new version of the Windows explorer integration plugin, that makes it possible to show thumbnails of .kra and .ora files: several memory leaks were fixed, and a conflict with .ora files created by an Oracle database too was resolved. Thanks to Alvin Wong," reads today's announcement.

Transform around pivot point added

Another interesting feature added in today's Krita 3.1.3 update is a new option that lets users transform or scale around pivot point. You should check the attached screenshot to see it in action, and don't hesitate to study the full changelog if you're curious to know what exactly was implemented in this point release.

Krita 3.1.3 is available for download for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website. Ubuntu Linux users can install it right now as a Snap image from the Ubuntu Snappy store, as well as from Krita's Ubuntu Lime PPA. An AppImage is available for users of other GNU/Linux distros.

The source tarball is available from the link above if you fancy compiling Krita on your favorite Linux-based operating system. We've also attached the full release notes below for your reading pleasure, and we recommend that you update your Krita installations to version 3.1.3 as soon as possible.
