Today, October 25, 2016, Martijn Kaijser had the great pleasure of announcing the release and immediate availability of the fourth, and probably the last Beta milestone of the upcoming Kodi 17 open-source and cross-platform media center software.

Kodi 17 "Krypton" Beta 4 is here approximately three weeks after the third Beta snapshot, and it looks like it adds even more enhancements and bug fixes in areas like PVR (Personal Video Recorder), DVR (Digital Video Recorder), video playback, the music library, live TV, and skinning.

"The changes for this fourth beta are the result of the continuous effort from the developers, either from inside the team or outside to get v17 into final release shape. and any outside. We sure would like to thank everyone involved with either development, testing or simply helping out others with question," said Martijn Kaijser in today's announcement.

What's new in Kodi 17 Beta 4

Among the coolest new things implemented in the Kodi 17 Beta 4 release, we can mention the addition of ARMv8A 64-bit builds for the Android mobile platform, improved playback of DVD ISO files, better relative seeking for video playback, improved gapless music playback, and support for changing the channel group in PVR.

It also looks like the hardware decoding for various MPEG2 files and DVDs has been greatly improved for AMD Radeon graphics cards, there's better aspect ratio calculation for 3D modes, the NVIDIA Shield TV controller is now fully supported, and multiple memory leaks were fixed.

You can download Kodi 17 Beta 4 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows platforms right now via our website, as well as for Android, iOS, Apple TV, and other supported devices from the project's homepage. When testing, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not stable enough for everyday use.
