Kodi, a media player and entertainment hub that used to go by the name of XBMC, was upgraded to version 15.0 a while ago, and now the developers behind it are working on the first major upgrade that should land pretty soon.

Kodi is a complex piece of software, and it has a lot of moving parts, so it's not really surprising the 15.0 branch has some minor issues. All in all, Kodi 15.0 has been a great release and it's hailed as the best one so far. Developers know about some of the issues that have popped up after the upgrade was released into the wild, and they are making everything they can to fix them as soon as possible.

This usually means that an update is on its way, and the Kodi devs have already shared some of their progress. The testing has already begun, and users will have once more to provide the feedback needed. Not everyone has replaced XBMC with Kodi in their minds, and some users are still scouring the Internet for the lastest XBMC version released, but they really should start using Kodi, which is so much better.

Kodi 15.1 is gathering some nice fixes

"For those of you not on the various social media sites, we would just like to note that testing for 15.1 has already begun, as we’ve noted and already fixed a number of issues that popped up upon release of 15.0. We could definitely use your help in testing the fixes that have been made for 15.1," noted the devs.

According to the changelog, renderbuffers now work correctly when flushing the video player, a broken network.bandwidth setting has been repaired, some PVR stuttering has been fixed, a crash that occurred when trying to delete a file in filemanager has been fixed, and FFMpeg has been upgraded to version 2.6.4.
