14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, Kodak brought its second Android smartphone to European markets. The Ektra is a camera-centric phone that will try to compete in the mid- to high-end price range.
Aside from the powerful main camera, the Kodak Ektra doesn't really impress, so the suggested retail price might not seem entirely justified.
Speaking of which, the Ektra is now available in Europe for €499 outright and customers can pick one up at Amazon or Kodak's online store. In the UK, the phone will sell for £450, slightly higher than the European price.
Keep in mind though that Amazon doesn't ship the Ektra in all European countries, but you can get it from Kodak's online store, which sends the phone anywhere in Europe for a cost.
We don't expect the Ektra to be released in the United States or other regions, but that will probably depend on how well the phone is received in Europe.
As mentioned earlier, Kodak Ektra is a camera-centric smartphone. It comes with an impressive 21-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features OIS (optical image stabilization), LED flash and f/2.0 aperture.
Another strong point of the phone would be the 13-megapixel camera in the front, which should allow users to capture state-of-the-art selfies.
Obviously, the Ektra ships with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. Kodak hasn't yet made any comments regarding the possibility of releasing an Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Ektra, so we'll just have to wait and see if the phone will get a major Android upgrade.
Hardware-wise, Kodak has decided to include a cheaper MediaTek chipset, even though the phone isn't cheap at all.
The Ektra comes with a deca-core Helio X20 processor, which is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card).
The phone is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and sports a 5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
