The game was created during a period of industry decline

Chris Taylor, the leader of developer Gas Powered Games, says that when his team was working on the Kings and Castles concept, it was hard to find an interested publisher because of the big problems of the PC gaming market.

The rise of the free-to-play business model, that took place during the last few years, might offer the team a way of reviving their title.

Taylor tells VG247 that, “Kings and Castles was basically Total Annihilation with Supreme Commander in the Medieval era and it seemed like a no-brainer.”

He adds, “We’re happy to see the stability of PC gaming come back through several world-leading companies like Wargaming, and we hope it’ll just continue to get better and better.”

Gas Powered Games was bought by Wargaming after the company had failed to get resources for its next title via Kickstarter.

It’s not yet clear what project the team is currently working on.
