Video game developer Iron Galaxy and publisher Microsoft are confirming that they are planning to launch the third season of their fighting game Killer Instinct on the PC at some point in March of this year, offering it only for those who have installed the Windows 10 operating system.

The information comes from a Reddit thread that has gathered details released by the two companies over the past few days, and it seems that the plan is to introduce an update Dojo tutorial and other enhancements for the title, all of them tailor made for this new platform.

Characters Kim Wu and Tusk will be offered on the PC as soon as Killer Instinct is launched and will have retro costumes, with gamers also given a wider selection of fighters than they were able to choose from when Season 2 was introduced.

There are also extra options that will be offered during the first few months after launch, and the team is also introducing new mechanics and tweaks for all the characters to make sure that the balance is improved.

More details about the changes and the way that Killer Instinct will be enhanced on the PC with Windows 10 will be offered at the end of January.

The studio also says the community will be consulted once Season 3 launches to determine which extra characters or stages are the most interesting when it comes to downloadable content pack delivery.

Iron Galaxy also suggested that they might introduce fighters based on pop culture tropes, more accessories for familiar faces, extra costumes and items as well as a range of new guest characters.

Killer Instinct will continue to get updates on the Xbox One

It's unclear whether all the enhancements for Season 3 will also be offered at the same time on the Microsoft home console or if the two platforms will have different expansion plans.

The development team is also not offering any information about any potential cross-platform play for Killer Instinct, but the feature has been promised for a long time for those titles that are offering on both the Xbox One and on Windows 10.

The fighting game was one of the launch titles for the new platform, and the developers have offered a solid number of tweaks for Season 2, which the fan community has welcomed.

It's unclear when Season 3 for Killer Instinct will arrive and what other merchandise Microsoft plans to offer alongside it, after introducing a dedicated soundtrack set in 2015.

The Xbox One needs to offer a solid fighting game as part of its line-up, and the new content is clearly designed to keep fans engaged as Street Fighter V is launched on both the PC and the PlayStation 4 during the month of February.

The new title from Capcom will use a new engine and set of mechanics, with four new characters and 12 returning ones offered at launch.

Both Sony and Microsoft want to make their fighting games successful in order to make sure that their platforms offer content for a wide variety of audiences.
