“Looking back, I do believe I was unhealthy,” she admits

Complex magazine has released new excerpts from their very long chat with Khloe Kardashian, which is featured in the latest edition of the mag. This time, she talks about being labeled “the fat and funny one” in the family and how she played along with that image but never fully identified with it.

In retrospect, Khloe admits that she might have been unhealthy for a very long time, when people said she was the “fat” of the 5 famous sisters, especially compared to Kim, Kourtney, Kendall or Kylie. But she didn’t believe it at the time.

Khloe’s image as “the fat and funny one”

The Complex interview comes with a spread that Khloe admits is the raciest she’s ever done. It’s gym-themed and aims to help her show off her toned, newly slimmed-down figure in a multitude of impractical bodysuits and heavy jewelry.

So now that she’s thinner and toned, what does she think of her chubbier self? Khloe always defended her “curvier” figure saying she was healthy and happy with it, and not-so-politely inviting those who disagreed to kiss her curvy you-know-what.

She was heavier than her sisters and definitely heavier than the average reality star, but she had a sense of humor about it and she owned being different.

Clearly, she concedes now, she wasn’t as healthy as she liked to imagine, but she was still very happy, insecurities aside.

“I never looked at myself as the fat sister,” she tells the mag. “Sometimes I would beat people to the punch and say, ‘Oh I'm the fat, funny one,’ because that's what people would say about me. But I never really thought that.”

Khloe’s journey to better health is rooted in heartbreak

Khloe Kardashian says she’s now in the best shape of her life. She works out daily and does grueling sessions with personal trainer Gunnar Peterson, who devised for her a customized plan that mixes cardio with weight training.

Her journey to better health is actually rooted in heartbreak, as she revealed in an older interview: once she gave up on her short-lived marriage to Lamar Odom and filed the divorce papers in December 2015, she tried to find ways to fight the depression she felt was settling in.

She started boxing as a way to rid of negative energies and keep her mind occupied, and she took her fitness routine one day at a time, doing more stuff as time went by.

The result is visible, especially for those of her fans who have been keeping an eye on her since she first appeared on E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
