Today, October 13, 2016, Farid Abdelnour announced the release and immediate availability of the second maintenance update to the Kdenlive 16.08 open-source video editor software project.

Distributed as part of the soon-to-be-released KDE Applications 16.08.2 software suite for the latest KDE Plasma 5.8 LTS desktop environment, Kdenlive 16.08.2 is here five weeks after the release of the previous maintenance version with no less than 36 improvements and bug fixes, addressing keyframe, UI, workflow, compilation, and proxy clip rendering related issues reported by users.

"This is the second service release of the 16.08 cycle with a total of 36 commits fixing many keyframe related problems as well as improvements to proxy clip rendering, user interface, workflow and compilation issues," reads the announcement. "This cycle saw the launch of the Toolbox section of the website, a collection of posts covering in depth reviews of new and existing tools and features."

Kdenlive better supports copying and pasting of keyframes

As mentioned before, a total of 36 changes are included in the Kdenlive 16.08.2 release, an among the most important improvements we can mention better support for copying and pasting keyframes, including those in transitions, along with support for removing keyframes after cursor position. There's also a fix for the keyframe type icons and disappearing keyframes in animated parameters.

Profiles now keep their aspect ratio, it's possible to automatically playback files that contain spaces in their names, the MLT Playlist proxying feature should now work correctly in accordance with the latest proxy profile changes, and it looks like groups will no longer disappear after inserting a new track.

Last but not least, editing animation parameters in timeline should work flawlessly now and won't corrupt the keyframes, only the importing position is now allowed if keyframes don't have height and width information, importing library clips with relative paths works correctly, and the error reporting saw great improvements.
