The KDE project had the great pleasure of announcing the release of the third maintenance update to the recently released KDE Plasma 5.9 desktop environment stable series.

That's right, believe it or not, KDE Plasma 5.9.3 is already here, only one month after the launch of KDE Plasma 5.9 and two weeks after the release of the second maintenance update, namely KDE Plasma 5.9.2. According to the changelog, a total of 41 recorded bugs have been addressed across many of the core components.

These include Plasma Workspace, Plasma Desktop, KWin, Bluedevil, Plasma Discover, Breeze icons, KScreenlocker, KSSHAskPass, KSysGuard, kwallet-pam, Plasma Networkmanager (plasma-nm), Plasma Audio Volume Control, KDE GTK Config, kde-cli-tools, as well as the KDE hotkeys.

"Today KDE releases a bugfix update to KDE Plasma 5, versioned 5.9.3. Plasma 5.9 was released in January with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds a two week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bug fixes are typically small but important," reads the announcement.

KDE Plasma 5.9.4 is currently scheduled to land on March 21, 2017

The most important fixes are detection of Git SSH passwords for KSSHAskPass, a nasty crash that occurred when switching activities, and font improvements in KCM (KDE Control Module). As usual, the full changelog is attached at the end of the article for your reading pleasure.

In the meantime, make sure that you update your KDE Plasma 5.9 desktop environment to the KDE Plasma 5.9.3 point release as soon as the new packages land in the stable software repositories of your favorite GNU/Linux distribution. The next update, KDE Plasma 5.9.4, is scheduled for March 21, and the last one, KDE Plasma 5.9.5, for April 25, 2017.
