Qt 5.7 now the minimum Qt version required for compilation

Just one week after the launch of the KDE Plasma 5.10 desktop environment, the first point release has arrived today, and it's already available for installation from the stable software repositories of Arch Linux and other GNU/Linux distributions.

KDE Plasma 5.10 is a short-term supported release that will get a total of five maintenance updates patching various issues in some of its components, and KDE Plasma 5.10.1 is here as the first such point release to address more than 40 bugs and annoyances that have been reported by users or discovered by the KDE developers since last week's KDE Plasma 5.10.0 launch.

Among the things that received improvements, we can mention Plasma Desktop, Plasma Workspace, Plasma Discover, Plasma add-ons, Plasma SDK, Plasma Networkmanager (plasma-nm), Plasma Audio Volume Control, KWin, Bluedevil, KScreenlocker, plasma-integration, and libkscreen. The full changelog is attached below if you're curious to know what exactly was changed.

"Today KDE releases a Bugfix update to KDE Plasma 5, versioned 5.10.1. Plasma 5.10 was released in May with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds a a week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important," reads today's announcement.

KDE Plasma 5.10.2 to hit the streets next week on June 13, 2017

According to the brief release notes, the most important things patched in today's KDE Plasma 5.10.1 release are a screen locker issue that would make it act weird when pressing the Enter key on your keyboard with an empty password field, as well as a crash that could occur when attempting to drop files on the desktop with KDeclarative from KDE Frameworks 5.35.0.

It also looks like Qt 5.7 is now the minimum Qt version required for compilation of KDE Plasma 5.10 packages and the QuickShare plasmoid was made compatible with Purpose 1.1. As mentioned before, KDE Plasma 5.10.1 is now available for you to install and update your KDE Plasma 5.10 desktop environment from the main software repositories of your operating system. If not, check in the next few days.

The next scheduled KDE Plasma 5.10 point release is KDE Plasma 5.10.2, which should hit the streets as soon as next week, on June 13, 2017. There will be another maintenance update released this month, namely KDE Plasma 5.10.3, on June 27, and the next ones, KDE Plasma 5.10.4 and KDE Plasma 5.10.5, are coming July 18 and August 22, 2017, respectively.
