The KDE project announced this past weekend the availability of the KDE Frameworks 5.32.0 monthly maintenance update for users of the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

KDE Frameworks is an open-source initiative attempting to gather together over 70 add-on libraries to Qt, needed for providing various common functionality to the KDE Plasma 5 desktop installations. The KDE Frameworks 5.32.0 release updates numerous components, adding a total of 86 changes, according to the changelog.

Updated components include Solid, Prison, Plasma Framework, NetworkManagerQt, KXMLGUI, KWidgetsAddons, KTextEditor, KPackage Framework, KNotification, KIO, KFileMetaData, KCoreAddons, KDocTools, KConfigWidgets, KConfig, KCMUtils, KArchive, KActivitiesStats, Breeze icons, Baloo, and the KDELibs 4 support.

Flatpak portals are now supported for KNotification

Among the things that caught our attention in the KDE Frameworks 5.32.0 release, we can mention support for Flatpak portals in KNotification, support for the Finish language when opening compressed packages in the KPackage framework, as well as the ability to remember the file type set by user in the KTextEditor text editor.

Moreover, NetworkManagerQt can now sync introspections and files that are generated with NetworkManager 1.6.0, the ability for Solid to display Floppy disks as "Floppy Disk" instead of "0 B Removable Media," and it looks like applet icons for Plasma Vault have been implemented on the Plasma Framework component.

The syntax highlighting was also improved with the introduction of more keywords, implementation of support for the *.RHTML file extension to both Rails and Ruby highlighting, various updates to CSS and SCSS syntax highlight, along with bug fixes to the LaTeX and Less highlighting support.

The full changelog of KDE Frameworks 5.32.0 is attached below for your reading pleasure, and we recommend updating your KDE Plasma 5 installations to the new 5.32.0 package versions as soon as possible, directly from the stable software repositories of your favorite GNU/Linux distribution.
