Right on the schedule, the latest stable KDE Applications 17.08 software suite got its first point release, versioned 17.08.1, this week, fixing more than 20 recorded bugs and improving support for several KDE apps.

As expected, KDE Applications 17.08.1 is a bug fix release, addressing various of the bugs, crashes, and other issues reported by users since the launch of the KDE Applications 17.08 stable series in mid-August 2017. Numerous KDE apps received improvements, including bug not limited to Akonadi, Minuet, Akregator, Kdenlive, Ark, Cantor, Cervisia, Gwenview, JuK, Umbrello, Okular, Konsole, and Kontact.

"Today KDE released the first stability update for KDE Applications 17.08. This release contains only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone," reads the announcement. "More than 20 recorded bugfixes include improvements to Kontact, Gwenview, Kdenlive, Konsole, KWalletManager, Okular, Umbrello, KDE games, among others."

Includes KDE Development Platform 4.14.36 LTS

Besides shipping with all those improvements, the KDE Applications 17.08.1 point release also includes KDE Development Platform 4.14.36 LTS. If you're curious to know what's been changed since KDE Applications 17.08, we suggest studying the full changelog on the release announcement page, where you can also grab the source tarballs if you want to compile any of the apps.

The release cycle of the KDE Applications 17.08 software suite will receive two more such maintenance updates, namely KDE Applications 17.08.2 and KDE Applications 17.08.3, due for release on October 12 and  November 9 respectively. The latter will also mark the end of life of the series, which, most probably will be preceded by KDE Application 17.12 launching later this year. We recommend updating your distro to KDE Apps 17.08.1 as soon as possible!
