The development of the next major release of KDE Applications 16.08, a software suite designed for the KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop environment, continues with the Release Candidate build.

KDE Applications 16.08 RC (Release Candidate) is here two weeks after the Beta version, available now for public testing. As expected, many bugs have been squashed since the July 22 release of KDE Applications 16.08 Beta, but given the fact that is the last development build in the series, the KDE development team needs your help to polish the final version, due for release on August 18, 2016.

"The KDE Applications 16.08 releases need a thorough testing in order to maintain and improve the quality and user experience. Actual users are critical to maintaining high KDE quality, because developers simply cannot test every possible configuration. We're counting on you to help find bugs early so they can be squashed before the final release. Please consider joining the team by installing the beta and reporting any bugs," reads the announcement.

KDE Applications 16.08 will have three maintenance releases

Again, the final KDE Applications 16.08 software suite will be officially announced in approximately two weeks, on August 18, 2016, and it looks like it will have the usual three maintenance updates. The first one, KDE Applications 16.08.1, should arrive on September 8, followed by the second one, KDE Applications 16.08.2, on October 13, 2016.

The last point release in the series, KDE Applications 16.08.3, should be available on November 10, 2016, marking the end of life of the software suite for the KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop environment. Until then, you are invited to thoroughly test KDE Applications 16.08 Release Candidate and report any bugs you might encounter, just please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not ready for deployment in stable environments.
