Just a few moments ago, February 16, 2016, KDE had the pleasure of announcing the release and general availability of the second maintenance build in the stable KDE Applications 15.12 series.

KDE Applications 15.12.2 has been released for the latest KDE Plasma 5.5.4 desktop environment and promises to fix over 30 issues reported by users since the previous maintenance version, KDE Applications 15.12.1, announced in mid-January 2016.

The bugs fixed in the KDE Applications 15.12.2 software suite adds improvements to many of the core applications included, among which we can mention the Kdenlive video editor, Marble world atlas, and Konsole terminal emulator.

The Spectacle screenshot utility, Ark archive manager, Akonadi storage service, Umbrello IDE, KDE PIM (Personal Information Manager), and the KDE libraries (kdelibs) also received various improvements in this release of KDE Applications 15.12.

"Today KDE released the second stability update for KDE Applications 15.12. This release contains only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone," reads today's announcement.

As usual with any point release of the KDE Applications 15.12 software suite, the developers include a new Long Term Support version of the KDE Development Platform 4.14, which is now in version 4.14.17.

KDE Applications 16.04 coming in April 2016

KDE Applications 15.12.2 should soon arrive in the default software repositories of various GNU/Linux operating systems, such as Arch Linux, so you need to update your OS as soon as possible if you're using the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Earlier this month, we also reported news on the preliminary release schedule for the next major version of the suite for KDE Plasma 5, KDE Applications 16.04, which should hit the streets on April 20, 2016.

In the meantime, the team will prepare one more maintenance release for the KDE Applications 15.12 suite, the KDE Applications 15.12.3 build, which will be unveiled next month on March 15, 2016.
