Just a few minutes ago, January 12, 2016, the KDE developers had the great pleasure of announcing the release and general availability of the KDE Applications 15.12.1 software suite for the KDE Plasma 5.5 desktop environment.

KDE Applications 15.12.1 is the first maintenance release in the KDE Apps 15.12 series, bringing fixes for over 30 bugs discovered by the KDE devs or reported by users since the previous stable version of the software for many of the KDE applications and core libraries included in the project.

Among the KDE apps and components that received improvements in KDE Applications 15.12.1, we can mention the Kdenlive video editor, Konsole terminal emulator, Spectacle screenshot tool, Ark archive manager, Umbrello IDE, Marble world atlas, Akonadi storage service, as well as KDEPIM and KDELibs.

"Today KDE released the first stability update for KDE Applications 15.12. This release contains only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone. More than 30 recorded bugfixes include improvements to kdelibs, kdepim, kdenlive, marble, konsole, spectable, akonadi, ark and umbrello, among others," reads today's announcement.

Additionally, the KDE Applications 15.12.1 release includes an update to the long-term supported KDE Development Platform 4, version 4.14.16. Details about how to install the KDE Applications 15.12.1 binary packages or compile it by hand on your GNU/Linux operating system can be found in the official release notes.
