Indian handset maker Karbonn has just announced a new affordable Android smartphone that is now available for purchase in India, the Aura 9.

Although the smartphone costs less than $100, it should set itself apart from other handsets in the same price range thanks to its huge 4,000 mAh battery.

Customers in need of such a large battery should know that aside from that, Karbonn Aura 9 does not impress at all when it comes to specs.

For example, the Aura 9 comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution.

In addition, the phone is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and is likely to remain on this version of the platform until it reaches end-of-life status.

Hardware-wise, the Aura 9 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The good news is users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

It comes with support for 21 languages

On the back, the affordable Karbonn Aura 9 features an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.

According to a new report, the smartphone supports dual-SIM with dual standby mode and comes with 21 languages and Smart Gesture Control.

Karbonn has yet to confirm the estimated usage time for the Aura 9, but considering that it packs a 4,000 mAh battery, it should last for days.

The Aura 9 offers many connectivity options like 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS with AGPS support and microUSB 2.0.

Potential customers should know that Karbonn Aura 9 is now available for purchase in either Navy Blue or White color options for only Rs 6,390 ($95 / €85) outright.
