At last month’s MTV Video Music Awards 2015, Kanye West was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and in his speech, he made sure to let the world know that he was planning to run for President of the United States in the 2020 elections. If you thought he was joking about that, well, the joke’s on you.

Kanye spoke to Vanity Fair to promote his new fashion line, which debuted at the New York Fashion Week 2015, and in between gushing about his creative genius and proclaiming the universal truth that “Sweatshirts are [expletive]-ing important,” he also discussed in detail his plans for the upcoming Presidential campaign.

Kanye West, the people’s candidate

Not only was Kanye not joking about running for President, but he’s actually convinced that the American people are backing him up in his bid. He is the people’s candidate because he brings something to the table no politician would: honesty.

Never one to be at fault of being too humble, Kanye boasts of the reception his announcement received, branding himself “the most honest celebrity” the world has.

His exact quote needs to be read to be duly appreciated: “Especially from the six years of this misconception or the six years I went through of ‘We don’t like Kanye.’ And then as soon as I said that, it was like, ‘Wait a second, we would really be into that, because actually if you think about it, he’s extremely thoughtful. Every time he’s ever gotten in trouble, he was really jumping in front of a bullet for someone else. He’s probably the most honest celebrity that we have.’ I didn’t approach that because I thought it would be fun. It wasn’t like, Oh, let’s go rent some jet skis in Hawaii. No, the exact opposite.”

While you might think that Kanye is so serious about his candidacy that he has everything planned out already, he admits that he has no idea yet of how he’ll run his campaign or the platform he’ll propose.

For the time being, he says, he’s still clubbing every night, musing on his historic announcement while coming to terms with the fact that, one day, he will have to stop clubbing and start his research.

What he does know already is that he will reach out to the other candidates and let them know he won’t be running against them, but “with” them.

First Lady Kim Kardashian

Imagine a world in 2020 in which rapper, fashion designer and complete artist Kanye West was President of the United States.

Not only would Air Force One have to be remodeled to suit Kanye’s huge ego but the world would also have First Lady Kim Kardashian. A vacuous, shallow reality star who got her dubious start in showbiz as Paris Hilton’s personal assistant and then best friend, and who then released her own, home-made adult tape to beat her in popularity, would actually be the First Lady.

That’s why they call America the land of all possibilities.
