14 DAY TRIAL // Justin Bieber has a new album coming out this fall and he’s determined to convince as many people as possible that he’s no longer a teen idol, but a grown-up artist whose music more people should buy. He’s also still working hard to win back the fans he lost by acting like a major douche for the past couple of years.
His latest interview, with Complex Magazine, is meant to show how much The Biebs has grown, to the point where he sees going public as a Christian like some kind of act of rebellion, or at least of going against the tide.
Bieber is a believer
Because he’s always hounded by paparazzi and because he is very active on social media, there’s little of Bieber’s personal life that the fans or the media don’t know about. For instance, we know that he started going to church regularly in recent months and we also know that he has at least 3 tattoos on his body that bear a religious significance.
He tells Complex, whose cover he graces with a Houdini-inspired photo, that he believes in God even though he doesn’t necessarily believe in going to church to be a good Christian.
He also says that Jesus Christ is pretty much his role model, in the sense that He inspires him to live a similar life. Somehow, this comparison now exists.
“I do not want to shove this down anyone’s throat. I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not be Jesus - I could never - I don’t want that to come across weird,” Bieber says. “Christians leave such a bad taste in people’s mouths, even myself. I was like, I’m not gonna go to church… I think that going to church is fellowship, it’s relationship, it’s what we’re here on the earth to do, to have this connection that you feel there’s no insecurities. I think that’s where we need to be. Like I said, you don’t need to go to church to be a Christian. If you go to Taco Bell, that doesn’t make you a taco.”
The comparison between a church and Taco Bell is one only Justin Bieber could have come up with.
Selena Gomez “disappointed” him
In the same interview, Bieber also talks about his tumultuous love life and how it started pretty much like a marriage, because he got to move in with the girl he loved when he was only 18. He’s obviously talking about Selena Gomez, whom he dated on and off for a few years, before she supposedly dumped him because he was a pain in the neck.
Justin tries to say only nice things about Selena to Complex, but he does mention that she “disappointed” him. He doesn’t say how she managed to do that, but celebrity pundits assume it’s because she dumped him instead of putting up with his antics.
