That’s why they scheduled their release on the same day

Justin Bieber has been on the road for a few weeks now, promoting his comeback album “Purpose,” which drops on November 13. If you’re a Directioner, you might have heard that One Direction is also putting out a new album on that date, their first release since Zayn Malik left the group.

Well, that’s no coincidence, Bieber told New Zealand radio station The Edge the other day (see the video below).

Bieber was the first to call the November 13 release date, even though at the time he didn’t even have a name for the material yet. One Direction announced “Made in the A.M.” a couple of weeks ago, and Bieber is convinced they couldn’t have missed the fact that the dates coincided.

He thinks this was a strategy on their part to have their names associated with his and thus get more people talking about them. It almost sounds as if he’s saying he’s the bigger star, so One Direction is trying to ride his coattails to the top of the charts.

“But, whatever. It's whatever. It's gonna be fun. I'm excited to see what happens,” Bieber eventually conceded. That part is not included in the video, but the Daily Mail says that there was a noticeable tinge of resentment in his voice.

Now that Bieber put it out there, if only as a suggestion, who do you think would win a virtual fight, Justin or One Direction? The Beliebers or the Directioners?
