Johnny Depp loves a good costume / disguise on-camera better than most actors in Hollywood, especially the highest paid ones. While some of his roles were not welcomed with warm reviews by critics, here’s one that’s very promising in terms of bringing him back into their graces.

This September, Johnny Depp will be back in theaters, playing one of America’s most notorious gangsters, James “Whitey” Bulger in “Black Mass.” The film has already generated plenty of buzz online because of the heavy facial prosthetics and makeup Depp was sporting on set, when it was still in production, but the end result might surprise even more.

Yes, it does look that good! Warner Bros. has released the first official poster for the film and a brand new trailer, showing Depp in action as Bulger, but also glimpses at the very impressive supporting cast.

You can see the trailer below: look for cameos from Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Sarsgaard, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, and Corey Stoll.

As for the poster, it’s not exactly groundbreaking stuff, though it stands out from the crowd. The focus falls on Depp’s character, with the supporting cast getting only an inset in the lower part.
