JJ Abrams and Chair Entertainment (Infinity Blade) are collaborating on building a game for mobile devices and PC that will be some sort of real-time strategy, with elements from other genres.

You might wonder what JJ Abrams is doing when he’s not rebooting Start Trek or Star Wars. Well, he has a company called Bad Robot Productions that’s responsible for TV series like Fringe or Lost, and films such as Episode VII: The Force Awakens and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond.

It’s clear that JJ Abrams has a lot of ideas, and many of them are turning out to be good. There aren’t too many producers or directors from Hollywood attempting to make a difference in the gaming world, but it looks like JJ Abrams is going to try something in this regard.

Both JJ Abrams and Donald Mustard from Chair Entertainment have been interviewed by Geoff Keighley regarding the launch of a new game called SPYJINX, which is a direct collaboration between the Infinity Blade developers and Bad Robot Productions.

The good and the bad

They didn’t have anything to show, and they didn’t want to give anything away, but it looks like they are trying to do something original. They’ve admitted that SPYJINX doesn’t really fit in any of the current genres and that it has RTS and RPG elements in the mix.

They have also said that the game is going to be using Unreal Engine, although that’s not a surprise since Chair Entertainment has relied heavily on Unreal in the past. And now we get to the bad part.

Whenever I hear about a game being developed for both the mobile and PC platforms, I cringe at the thought. It sounds like it might be an amazing game, but it might also be full of microtransactions.

There is no launch date for SPYJINX, but given the fact that it has been revealed, we will probably get more information on it very soon.
