14 DAY TRIAL // You would think that being an A-list actress or one of the hottest entertainers on the scene would make you an excellent tipper, but that’s not the case with Jennifer Aniston, Usher or Gwyneth Paltrow, Star Magazine claims in its latest print issue (story via CB).
The tab has compiled a list with the biggest celebrity penny-pinchers based on insider accounts, and these 3 come at the top of the not-so-honorable chart. Angelina Jolie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell are also on the list, but in their case, it’s not a bad thing. First things first.
Worst celebrity tippers exposed
According to Star, Aniston uses the services of psychic Fay Koliai on a regular basis. She pays the $150 (€133.8) a session bill, but she doesn’t tip a cent, the report says. Koliai is not exactly pleased that she never leaves “a thank-you” but won’t say anything to the former “Friends” star because she’s good business.
Gwyneth Paltrow is just as bad a tipper, often leaving very small amounts on the table at restaurants on the grounds that she’s “terrible at math” and can’t be bothered with calculating percentages.
Robert Pattinson, the report claims, is worse than both these 2 ladies: not only will he not leave a tip, but he will actually refuse to pay for grooming services like getting a haircut. Insiders claim that he’s so cheap that he will absolutely refuse to pay for something, if that’s a possibility.
Usher never leaves a tip either, but he will leave an autograph on a napkin on the table, thinking that the staff who waited on him could sell it for cash.
Mick Jagger and Katherine Heigl are also known for being horrible tippers, but the latter is the worst of the two because she will also complain about her food many times during a meal, even sending it back for whatever reason.
Celebrity penny-pinchers
Just like being rich doesn’t instantly turn you into a good tipper, it doesn’t turn you into someone who will spend money unwisely.
The same Star report claims that Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kristen Bell are very careful about how they spend their hard-earned cash, choosing to ditch the celebrity lifestyle in favor of one that regular folks can also relate to.
For instance, Jolie’s 6 kids wear hand-me-downs because she wants them to learn the true value of things, while the former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar, only plans her family vacations in such a way as to get the cheapest flights and tickets.
Kristen Bell buys second-hand stuff, including mattresses and clothes, and Jessica Alba refuses to send out freebies to celebrities and the media from her Honest Company brand. The latter example is more a business decision, since Alba’s stuff practically sells itself, without her having to give out free stuff for publicity.
