Shortly before the 3rd anniversary of their engagement, Hollywood actors and tabloid fixtures Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux tied the knot in a super-secret ceremony held in the backyard of their Bel Air mansion on Wednesday night. Details of the surprise event are just starting to come out in the media.

Considering the kind of scrutiny Jennifer and Justin are under at all times, it’s a surprise to find out that they were able to carry out preparations for the big event without someone tipping off the glossies. TMZ says this was possible because Jennifer had told everyone, including the guests, that she was throwing a surprise birthday party for Justin, who turns 44 on Monday.

Wedding ceremony, a totally covert operation

As you can see in the video report below, Jennifer and Justin managed to pull a fast one even on their guests, because no one but those close to them knew there would be a wedding.

Staff and caterers were told the same lie, that there would be a surprise birthday party. All the supplies necessary for the party were kept in a house adjacent to the mansion, which is also owned by the couple. They were moved in place hours before the event, via a secret path that cut through the woods and was thus obscured from the paparazzi.

For the duration of the preparations, no one on staff was allowed to park near the property or have their cellphones on them. This further ensured that no leaks to the media would take place.

The guestlist, the cake and the party

The guestlist was as impressive as you’d expect from a couple of A-listers. Jennifer’s estranged parents weren’t in attendance, but all her celebrity friends were, including Chelsea Handler and Courteney Cox. The latter also served as maid of honor and was, according to reports, the last one to leave the party.

Former “Friends” co-star Lisa Kudrow was also there, as also were Howard Stern, John Krasinski, Samantha Ronson, Terry Richardson, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Jimmy Kimmel and Tobey Maguire.

Singer Sia was also invited and she also performed live for the guests, including her hit song “Chandelier.”

The cake was wedding-themed but more on the funny side than you’d expect, including 2 giant muppet-like characters, one a bride and the other a groom. A while back, Jennifer Aniston did say that, when she got married, she would make sure the reception would double as a comedy show. This is close enough.

No word yet on what kind of dress the bride wore or if she’ll be releasing some wedding photos as exclusives to a celebrity magazine.

Word has it that the newlyweds have boarded a private jet for Bora Bora for their honeymoon, on which they also invited pals like Chelsea Handler because they want to continue the party they started on their wedding day.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux reportedly started dating in 2010, when he was involved with someone else. They insist they got together in 2011, after the breakup.
