Ben Affleck’s Batman must beat Superman first, though

In 2016, Ben Affleck will be making his debut into the superhero genre, donning Batman’s cape and cowl in Zack Snyder’s first Justice League movie, “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The film will be out in March, and from the title, it will clearly feature a showdown between the biggest superheroes in the DC Comics universe.

If Batman wins, he can try to size up with real-life superhero (sort of) Jason Bourne, but he’ll lose. Matt Damon hit up TIFF 2015 this past weekend to promote “The Martian,” which is coming out later this year and is already getting major awards buzz, when he pitted the two fictional characters against each other in an interview with E! Online.

The way he sees it, Batman wouldn’t stand a chance against his Jason Bourne, whether it would be Christian Bale or Affleck’s Batman, or any other previous iteration of it.

“Jason Bourne would kick the [crap] out of Batman - absolutely!” Damon says. “Batman’s gotta take on Superman first. If he could beat him then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne.”

Also on the topic, he says he hasn’t yet heard Affleck’s Batman voice, because that’s not the kind of thing they talk about when they meet and hang out.

As for chances of Damon getting his own superhero movie, he doesn’t see it happening: Hollywood seems to be running out of good superheroes to bring to the big screen and, to boot, he’s just fine with his Bourne superhero.

Speaking of which, 2016 will also bring Damon’s fourth Jason Bourne movie to the big screen, after a hiatus of 9 years.
