Janet Jackson has unveiled the official music video for her first single in many years, “No Sleep,” which marks her comeback on the market but also announces a new album. This one will be out later this year and will be supported by a live tour.

It’s been a rough few years for fans of the diva, as she retired from the spotlight and the music industry. Janet was never the kind of celebrity we see today everywhere, favoring instead spending her time away from the glare of the cameras when she was not promoting a new material.

She announced her comeback a short while ago, and it was quickly followed by the release of the actual comeback track: a sensual, moody track she dedicated to her husband, Wissam Al Mana. It made sense for her to dedicate it to her “love,” since she sang about missing her man so much she promised him they would be getting no sleep when they finally met.

The music video, released online some hours ago, is just as moody but falls short on being overly sensual. It’s shot entirely in a luxury home, with J. Cole making a brief appearance right before the end, when Janet lies down on the sofa and gets a bit of rest - presumably before the big night of no sleeping.

This is actually a case of video not matching the message of the song, but I doubt fans will see anything objectionable in this, especially since Janet includes touching tributes to her dad Joe and her late brother Michael, the King of Pop.

Here it is, enjoy!
