Users claim incoming calls aren’t displayed on screen

iPhone X owners are now reporting an unexpected bug that makes it impossible to answer calls, as devices only ring and vibrate, without any call information and option displayed on screen.

Judging from the number of posts on Apple Support Communities, this isn’t yet a widespread issue, though more than 100 users claim to have the exact same problem on their iPhone X. The bug was first reported in early December, and the number of people confirming it is growing in January.

One such post on the forums explains that the bug is temporarily fixed when rebooting the phone, but this only happens on some occasions.

An Apple Community specialist provided general recommendations, such as closing the Phone app and rebooting the device. Eventually, they say a full reset of the iPhone could fix the issue.

No fix, no workaround

At this point, only the iPhone X appears to be affected, and the most recent iOS updates haven’t made any difference, according to users who posted in the linked thread.

“I tried every possible option to resolve the issue, thrice reinstalled the iOS nothing has happened yet in fact Apple customer support has acknowledge the issue but they don’t have any solution. They are completely speechless and answer less,” one user explains, revealing that not even a full reset works.

Apple hasn’t provided any official statement on the bug and it’s not known if a fix is on its way, but the Daily Mail says the company declined to comment when asked about the issue.

No workaround is available right now, and in case not even a full iOS reset does the trick, iPhone X users hitting the incoming calls bug are pretty much alone in their attempt to fix things.

It remains to be seen if the next iOS version addresses the problem, as Apple promised an update to be shipped this week in order to provide more battery information on devices impacted by its power management tweaks.
