Every year, when new iPhone devices are unveiled, Apple drops the price of the older models, and the iPhone X successor(s) are expected to come with a smaller price tag than the current model on sale.

Earlier this year, there were at least a couple of reports from various analysts claiming Apple's 2018 iPhone models will have a smaller price tag due to the fact that the iPhone X sales were sluggish since its launch in September last year, the main factor being the high price of the device.

The reports claimed Apple would unveil a cheaper iPhone model with LED display and two other OLED variants later this year, a refreshed iPhone X models and a bigger one dubbed iPhone X Plus. As expected, the LED iPhone would come with a smaller price tag.

iPhone X Plus to cost $999, 2018 iPhone X priced at $899 says analyst

RBC Capital Markets analyst Amit Daryanani claims (via Business Insider's Kif Leswing) this year's 5.8-inch iPhone X successor will be at least $100 USD cheaper, priced at $899, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. However, he said that the rumored iPhone X Plus model will have a price tag of $999 USD.

"The most interesting dynamic to watch will be pricing, specially considering the limited success iPhone X had with $1,000+ ASP. We think the LCD model could drive the highest volumes (~35-50% of volume) and could be priced at $700+. Furthermore, the refreshed 5.8" OLED (XI) could be priced at $899," said the analyst.

This should sound as good news to those who wanted to upgrade their older iPhone devices to the new iPhone X model but couldn't because of its high price. Also, the analyst said the cheaper LED iPhone would be priced at over $700 USD in the United States.

According to Amit Daryanani, the cheaper 2018 iPhone model will have a 6.1-inch LCD display, while the refreshed OLED model is keeping the 5.8-inch screen size. On the other hand, the bigger 2018 iPhone X Plus model would have a generous 6.5-inch OLED display.
