New videos present the iPhone X in detail

The iPhone X will start shipping in just a few days and the number of videos discussing the phone is growing at a super-fast pace, with some people releasing what they claim to be the first hands-on clips on YouTube.

Before anything, it’s important to emphasize one thing: some viewers claim these videos are nothing more than short demos that were allowed following Apple’s press event on September 12, despite the uploaders claiming to already have the iPhone X. So just take them with a pinch of salt for now.

But for what it’s worth, they do provide a closer look at the device, including the setup screen of Face ID, the facial recognition system coming to the anniversary model this year, and likely to be expanded to all devices as soon as the next generations.

Facial recognition working smoothly… for now

Setting up Face ID doesn’t seem to be a difficult process and it all comes to having the iPhone X scan your face to enroll it for the very first time.

Apple promises that this feature can keep track of the changes happening on your face over time, such as when growing a beard or wearing glass, so once you configure it successfully the first time, everything should then work smoothly with no other changes required.

Without a fingerprint sensor on the iPhone X, Apple clearly needs facial recognition to work as flawlessly as possible, and this hands-on video seems to indicate everything’s running smoothly for now.

Of course, once the iPhone X starts reaching the first customers we’ll know more about how reliable and accurate this feature truly is, as users across the world as the best testers a company can have.

The iPhone X is projected to start shipping on November 3 to the first customers who pre-ordered it last Friday, with everyone else to follow in the coming weeks depending on stock.
