A new report that Apple has some serious production issues with the announced and unreleased iPhone X has surfaced, which might cause a delay.

Most new technologies seem to suffer from the same problem in today’s market. Being first with something means that there are no factories to produce enough of it. If it’s a software feature, the problem is that they can’t rely on others for solutions.

The same can be said about the upcoming iPhone X, which brings some new things to its users. Among them, there are two possible problems. One is the new OLED screen, and the other is the facial recognition system.

Blame Samsung and Apple

The displays in the upcoming iPhone X are made by Samsung, and the technology is called OLED. It’s new for Apple, but it’s been used by Samsung for many years. The problem is that Samsung can’t make the number that Apple needs and the technology itself is prone to various problems.

As if the display problem was not enough, the report released today by The Wall Street Journal, mentions that Apple might have made a mistake with the facial technology. It’s a two-part system, with the Romeo module responsible for capturing the face of the person, and the Juliet module interpreting the data.

It turns out that Apple has a problem with Romeo module and has a hard time assembling it. This can lead to delays for the launch, although it’s hard to imagine that Apple will push the date forward.

The most likely scenario is that only a limited number of iPhone X will be made available in November when the official launch was scheduled, and the rest will ship as they become available.

All in all, the problems could work in Apple’s favor, if the device is a good one. The long queues will create anticipation for the new device. On the other hand, if iPhone X is not good enough, the long waiting period might turn customers away from the brand.
