Apple provides new stats on how customers use their iPhones

We live in a time when phones have become extensions of our bodies, so we take them pretty much everywhere we go, so it’s no surprise that you see people using their handsets everywhere.

But as far as iPhone customers are concerned, they seem to like their devices so much that they unlock them no less than 80 times every single day, according to Apple figures published by Ben Bajarin, head of primary research at industry analyst Creative Strategies (via AI).

While this is clearly a big number, it’s worth noting that most iPhone customers do this because it’s extremely easy, and unlocking the device doesn’t involve more than a single home button press.

And what’s more, it appears that no less than 89 percent of the iPhone customers are now using the Touch ID or a passcode to protect their phones. The main reason for this is once again the fact that it’s quite easy not only to set them up but also to use them once everything’s configured.

Apple planning to make setting passcodes even easier

Without a doubt, Apple can only be pleased that so many users are setting up Touch ID and passcodes on their devices, especially given the company’s fight against the US government hacking devices that are allegedly involved in criminal activities.

According to Bajarin, Apple repeatedly mentioned the “balancing security with ease of use” phrase, as one of the company’s priorities is to make it easy for customers to set up protection systems for their devices and to use them afterwards.

The company is reportedly working to build a hacker-proof iPhone in an effort to prevent more requests to break into its devices from the US government, but for the moment, the company’s main challenge is to find out how the FBI actually unlocked the San Bernardino phone.

People close to the matter said that FBI turned to a group of hackers that exploited an undisclosed vulnerability in iOS to break into the device, and Apple’s having a hard time finding out more information about it.
