Research firm looks into feedback posted on Twitter

iPhone users posting on Twitter aren’t as satisfied with their phones as those who own a Samsung device, according to a new study analyzing the feedback posted on the social network since 2016.

Market research firm LikeFolio says that while the positive sentiment in the Apple ecosystem has remained pretty much the same over the last 12 months, Samsung performed substantially better, especially following the release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in the spring.

As you can see in the graph attached to the article, the South Korean firm experienced a major drop last year, mostly due to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Samsung’s 2016 phablet was recalled by the company and eventually retired completely after it was discovered that it shipped with faulty batteries suffering from overcharging and causing increased risk of fire.

Samsung, however, managed to recover substantially after that and the Galaxy S8 series made a huge difference, giving the parent company a major lead over rival Apple.

iPhone X to the rescue

On the other hand, Cupertino hasn’t launched a major overhaul of the iPhone until this year, so an increase is likely to be experienced by Apple in the coming months.

The iPhone 7 brought very little change as compared to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6, aside from the Plus model which introduced a dual-camera system, but as it turns out, this wasn’t enough to give the company a boost in its share of positive sentiment on Twitter.

Nevertheless, the launch of the iPhone X, which introduces upgrades like an OLED display, a facial recognition system, a vertical dual camera, wireless charging, and others, should push the company closer to Apple. The chart does show an improvement in the last few months, mostly generated by the iPhone X.

Overall, however, Samsung tweets are clearly more positive than those about the iPhone, and by the looks of things, the iPhone X might not be enough to give Apple the lead this time.
