Leak coming from source close to Chinese manufacturers

We’re only a few months away from the debut of the new iPhone 8 and leaks keep landing on a regular basis with information that confirms some of the rumors we’ve heard before about Apple’s upcoming flagship product.

A new set of photos posted on reddit and allegedly coming from an industry source that’s close to Apple’s Chinese manufacturers claim to show the final design of the iPhone 8, while also confirming that Apple is indeed working on some pretty major feature upgrades for the device.

Bezel-less display with sensor bar at the top

First and foremost, the photos come in line with recent speculation that Apple was working on narrower bezels for the iPhone 8. The front panel confirms that Apple removes the Home button and instead goes for an edge-to-edge approach, with the only notable thing on the front being the sensor bar at the top.

This new sensor bar will be specifically used for the front-facing camera and the earpiece, with some sources also claiming that it could incorporate a face and iris-recognition system for additional security. This camera could enable biometric authentication on the new iPhone, as Apple is following in the footsteps of rival Samsung.

As far as the back panel is concerned, it looks like Apple is indeed adopting a vertical dual-camera layout, most likely because it reworks the layout of the device’s internals. There’s no cutout for the fingerprint sensor, so despite rumors that Apple could move Touch ID to the back of the phone, it appears that the fingerprint reader will actually be placed under the display.

This means that users will be able to unlock the device, authorize purchases, and anything that requires the Touch ID by simply putting the finger on the display, and not with a conventional fingerprint sensor as is the case on Samsung phones.

Wireless charging

Then, there’s one important upgrade that might be coming to the iPhone. The back panel is made of glass, which means that Apple is almost certainly planning to make wireless charging available.

And the best of all, this feature won’t be available only on the iPhone 8, but also on the iPhone 7s and 7S Plus, as they’ll all be made of glass and boast wireless charging. Earlier this year, it was rumored that Apple was working on a long-range wireless charging system, but it’s not known if this feature is ready just yet.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7s Plus will come with the same horizontally-mounted dual-camera system, while the smaller iPhone 7s would continue to feature a single-lens shooter, as is the case of the existing model.

The debut of the revamped iPhone generation is projected to take place in the fall, most likely in September, so expect more leaks to happen in the meantime.
