14 DAY TRIAL // A new video that’s making the rounds today provides us with an early look at the iPhone 8 thanks to a dummy that’s said be 99 percent similar to the model that Apple plans to launch in September.
After seeing a million renders, leaked parts, front panels, and concepts, this video comes to confirm some of the features that make the most sense on a device like the iPhone 8, including the vertical dual-camera system that the company will embrace on the OLED model exclusively.
Apple switched from a single-lens unit to a dual-camera configuration on the iPhone 7 Plus, and it looks like with the release of the iPhone 8, the company will continue on this path with an update: the cameras will be placed horizontally, most likely to make more room inside for new tech.
Wireless charging on an iPhone
This new tech is likely to be wireless charging, as Apple is finally bringing it to its iPhone series, years after Samsung did the same on its S flagship phone lineup. There are good chances Apple will adopt a conventional wireless charging system with a charging plate, and not a completely new tech that would allow the device to charge from across the room, as some patents have hinted.
To make wireless charging possible, the iPhone 8 will feature a glass body, and this video confirms that the new model would indeed look pretty sleek and exquisite thanks to this approach.
The iPhone 8 will feature an OLED display with narrow bezels, while the front fascia will also be the home of a sensor bar at the top that will hold facial recognition cameras for extra security. It’s also believed the fingerprint sensor will be embedded in to the screen, and the clip confirms this is indeed very likely given that there’s no reader on the back or on the front.
Of course, there’s a chance that this dummy is also a bit different from the final model launching in September, but otherwise, the look of the phone is expected to be mostly the same.
