The analyst predicts that iPhone sales will fall in 2016

9to5mac reports that KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable Apple analysts, has recently published a new research note predicting the fall of iPhone sales in 2016, as Apple's next smartphone won't be a game-changer.

It appears that Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted many things over the years about the Cupertino company's iPhone sales, most of which were laughed off as crazy conspiracy theories. This time is no different, as the analyst forecasts that Apple could see a significant iPhone sales drop in 2016, much lower than those it saw two years ago.

In his latest research note, Mr. Ming-Chi Kuo has also anticipated that Apple's next iPhone, which right now the world knows only as "iPhone 7," won't come with any major selling points, which could lead to iPhone shipments in 2016 much lower than those the Cupertino company saw in 2014. However, it is not a secret for anyone anymore that Apple stopped innovating a long time ago.

iPhone SE won't help either

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, in the worst-case scenario, Apple could ship only 190 million iPhone devices during the entire year of 2016, which is definitely much lower than the 193 million iPhones the company shipped in 2014. That's also due to the poor sales of the new iPhone SE smartphone Apple introduced last month, during its "Let us loop you in" spring event.

In the best-case scenario, Apple could ship 205 million iPhones in 2016, says Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities in his new research note, which you can see attached at the end of the article. In other words, a decline between 18.1% and 11.6% year-over-year is expected, also due to the fact that the presumably iPhone 7 smartphone will not have any attractive selling points, which the Cupertino company is set to unveil later this year.
