Research shows iPhone X early adoption is impressive

iPhone X appears to be one of the most successful iPhone models to date, but new data offered by research firm IHS Markit seems to indicate that Apple’s new product still has a long way to go to beat its predecessors.

iPhone X already accounts for 2 percent of all iPhone models in eight different countries, the research shows, and this happens only three weeks after its launch.

This makes the anniversary iPhone more successful than the iPhone 8, both standard and Plus models, but still not as widely adopted as the iPhone 7 in the first weeks of availability. Singapore, Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan are the countries where iPhone X recorded the best sales, the research shows.

Furthermore, Apple’s OLED iPhone X is selling fast in countries where iPhone Plus models recorded strong performance as well, as customers here typically show bigger interest in high-end features like dual-camera systems, OLED displays, and others.

Strong performance in the US

Apple’s home market is the place where iPhone X managed to beat both iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 Plus, while also matching the performance of iPhone 8 Plus. On the other hand, iPhone 7 remains the best selling model in the United States.

As for the sales Apple’s iPhone X is expected to record next year, IHS Markit says 2018 will be the best year ever for iPhone, with each of the next four quarters to bring substantial increases in shipments. Apple will ship a total of 88.8 million iPhone units this quarter, which will represent Apple’s best quarter ever.

Apple is expected to align production with demand in early 2018, as most of the manufacturing challenges have already been addressed and more stock arrives in stores across the world. Current waiting times for iPhone X dropped to one week, and this is a key sign that we’re not very far away from the moment the device will become available for walk-in customers as well.
