The A9 chip is optimized to offer a smooth user experience

There are still many customers that aren't fans of a certain company or mobile platform. If you are one of them and still haven't decided which flagship you should get, then here is a test that you might want to take into consideration.

The folks over at PhoneBuff recently made a speed test that involved the opening of multiple apps and games on three of the most powerful flagship smartphones available on the market, at least on paper: iPhone 6S Plus, Nexus 6P, and Lumia 950 XL.

Before going into details, it's worth mentioning that most of these speed tests are subjective since they highly depend on various optimizations of the apps the tester is using.

It also depends on how well an operating system has been optimized for a chipset, so it's not always the hardware that must be blamed for low performance.

Moving on to the actual speed test, let's take a look at the hardware of these three beasts that have been subjected to the benchmark.

Lumia 950 XL took almost twice iPhone 6S Plus' time to finish the test

As many of you probably know by now, the Nexus 6P and Lumia 950 XL both come equipped with octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors and 3GB RAM.

On the other hand, Apple's iPhone 6S Plus is powered by a dual-core A9 chipset, coupled with only 2GB of RAM and a hexa-core PowerVR GT7600 graphics processing unit.

The speed test consists of two laps during which each smartphone must run a set of apps and games like Temple Run 2, Angry Birds, Netflix, and others.

It looks like iPhone 6S Plus came ahead of both Nexus 6P and Lumia 950 XL by almost 1 minute, which is quite huge. Nexus 6P came in second while Lumia 950 XL was very close to just 6 seconds behind.

However, we should also take into consideration that the iPhone 6S Plus sports a full HD (1080p) display, whereas the other two boast Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) screens.

There are other factors that probably influenced the results, but the difference between iPhone 6S Plus and the other two flagships is simply staggering.

We've already published our iPhone 6S Plus review and the first Nexus 6P impressions (review coming soon), so check them out if you want to know more details on these flagships. Don't forget to read our Lumia 950 XL review as well.
