The amount of digital data is increasing everyday, making consumers continuously search for new storage solutions, that can provide enhanced capacities, performance, and reliability, features that are required to store and protect one's digital content. On that note, ioSafe has announced today the availability of a new 2TB version of its ioSafe Solo series of USB desktop external drives, featuring a fireproof and waterproof design. Built to meet the requirements of both home users and businesses, the new desktop external drive can enable users to backup and efficiently protect their data.

“The 2 TB ioSafe Solo is a great product for anyone looking to buy a desktop external hard drive who needs the high capacity and single drive simplicity. When used as a backup device, the ioSafe can protect against data loss from primary hard drive failure, accidental deletions as well as fires, floods and other forms of physical disasters,” said ioSafe CEO, Robb Moore. “Businesses struggling with disaster recovery or regulatory compliance such as HIPAA, PCI or Sarbanes Oxley can also use ioSafe hardware to add simple and secure protection. The ioSafe Solo is one of the easiest, fastest and least expensive ways to protect your data.”

A quick look at the specifications sheet of the external drive will reveal that the ioSafe Solo comes with a USB 2.0 480Mbps interface and measures 5.0 x 7.1 x 11.0 (w x h x l) inches. Additional features include fireproof to 1550 degrees Fahrenheit, with waterproof to 10 feet of fresh water or salt water, for a full 3 days. The drive also comes with an air flow cooling, to ensure better hard drive reliability.

According to the company, the new 2TB ioSafe will be available from leading retailers and resellers, as well as from the HDDFireSafe.com, for a suggested retail pricing of US$399. The drive is also available in a 500GB model, for US$149.
