True prices for Intel Skylake are finally revealed

Since they became available in Australia online and their launch date is rapidly approaching, more details about the Skylake chips have leaked into the wild, this time with prices in USD.

It seems the new CPUs will cost about the same amount of money as existing chips, which is a very curious tactic chosen by Intel, and probably a very successful one as well.

If sold in large stock amounts, roughly around 1000 pieces, the flagship Intel Core i7-6700K packaging (four cores with Hyper-Threading, 4.0GHz frequency, 4.20GHz maximum Turbo Boost clock rate with 8MB last-level cache, a dual-channel DDR3L/DDR4 memory controller with 1600MHz or 2133MHz support, 95W TDP, and integrated Intel HD Graphics, as well as LGA1151) will cost $316(€287).

When it comes to the slightly slower Core i5-6600K, which comes with four cores of 3.50GHz frequency, 3.90GHz maximum Turbo Boost frequency, 6MB last-level cache, dual-channel DDR3/DDR4 memory controller with 1600MHz or 2133MHz support, 95W TDP, Intel HD Graphics integrated graphics core, and LGA1151 socket, the price will be of about $225 (€205).

Going lower down the line of less power-hungry CPUs, the 65W and the eco-friendly 35W T-series prices will range from $282 (€256) to $170 (€154). These seem to be more realistic prices compared to the ones available online on eBay Australia, where the figures went up to two times the usual prices.
