14 DAY TRIAL // Intel has just released an Android application that will allow users to remotely control their PC with a smartphone / tablet. The new application is called Intel Remote Keyboard and it's now available for download via Google Play Store.
Unfortunately, developers do not share too many details on how the application can achieve what it promises to offer.
In fact, the app's description is extremely short and provides Android users with info on what it can do: “Designed for Intel NUC and Compute Stick devices, remote control your mouse and keyboard in Windows 8.1 with your smartphone or tablet.”
According to TheNextWeb, the application can be used on any system running Windows 7 and 8, so those who still run Windows XP on their PCs might not be able to use Intel Remote Keyboard application.
Make sure to install the desktop companion app too
In order to remotely control your PC with Intel Remote Keyboard, you will have to download and install the Android application from Google Play Store and then install the companion desktop software from Intel's support website.
The Android application comes with an on-screen keyboard and trackpad with a scroll bar, so it's pretty straightforward when it comes to functionality. It also allows users to work in either portrait or landscape mode.
With Intel Remoter Keyboard, you can control your PC by moving your finger along the empty space to control the cursor, tap to left-click and tap with two fingers to right-click.
If you want to scroll, then simply swipe your finger on the scroll bar and you will achieve that action as well. That's about all the gestures you need to know in order to be able to remotely control your PC with Intel Remoter Keyboard.
You can now download Intel Remote Keyboard for Android for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
