Instagram has been quite busy lately, trying to make its application more popular with users by adding new features and improvements. The latest goodie to hit the app regards automatic in-text translations, which would remove the language barrier between Instagrammers from all over the world.

Just a few days ago, Instagram announced that 500 million users around the world make use of the photo-sharing service, with 300 million of them using the application every day. Instagram also released some more statistics on app usage and revealed that 95 million images and videos are shared per day while content posted on the platform receives, on average, 4.2 billion likes per day.

Instagram has been busy updating its applications with a new identity  and it has also rolled out a new algorithm that displays the best posts first, instead of the most recent ones.

The automatic translation feature will come next month

Instagram has now informed us that a new update is heading to devices, one that would bring yet another neat feature. A translation button on feed stories and profile bios will allow users to translate text that’s written in a different language. You may want to know that the new feature is expected to debut in the coming month.

Instagram will also automatically translate captions and comments on posts in Feed, as well as the bio section. The application appears in the same language that the phone or tablet is set to. However, the feature won’t be available for languages that the app doesn’t support yet or on some older posts.

Nevertheless, users shouldn’t worry since the machine translation feature will support 24 languages at first, and Instagram will work on providing users with more in the near future.

Instagram’s automatic translation feature is certainly welcome, considering that 80% of its users reside outside the US, and other popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter already come with such an option that allows users to translate text.
