The recent hack will also be included in some form

OutEast Entertainment is proposing a new take on the classic televised approach to marriage, and it’s looking to Ashley Madison, the infidelity website working under the tagline “Life’s short, have an affair,” for inspiration.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms a new TV pilot is currently in the works, for a show tentatively called “Thank You Ashley Madison.” It would focus not so much on the recent hack (though it would include it too), but rather on the idea that started it, of offering a platform for spouses looking to cheat to meet with other spouses thus inclined.

Steven Mars and Courtney Hazlett of OutEast Entertainment are producing, with Jennifer Kennedy (from “Justified”) and Ian MacDonald writing the script.

Ashley Madison was started in 2001 by Noel Biderman, but the new TV show would take some creative license with this in the hope of bringing something new to the table, so the founder will be a woman (and mother) who launches it to provide for the family.

The idea is to discuss marriage from a different perspective, and the producers believe that this discussion would have been had even if it hadn’t been for the recent hack. This is today’s reality, and they’re thrilled to be the first to bring this topic up for viewing and debate.

“Anytime 30 million people are doing anything, it becomes worthy of discussion,” Hazlett tells THR.
