An Indian hacking crew going by the name of IBH (Indian Black Hats) has defaced several Pakistani websites in revenge for the death of NSG Commando Lt. Col. Niranjan Kumar and as an homage to his two-year-old daughter Vismaya.

The operation was carried out as retaliation after the brutal terrorist attack on the Pathankot Indian Air Force Station. The attackers wore Indian Army fatigues and killed seven security personnel and one civilian.

One of the victims was Lt. Col. Niranjan Kumar, who died trying to defuse a grenade and was later praised by the media as a national hero and martyr.

The subsequent investigation by Indian authorities proved that some of the terrorists, associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed Islamist militant group, had communicated with persons from Pakistan before launching the attack.

Since there's no love lost between the feuding Indian and Pakistani neighbours, Indian hackers quickly went to work and defaced seven Pakistani websites.

No big government portal targeted

The defaced sites belonged to a government horse remount institution, a government caring store and canteen, the Pakistan Bar Council, the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies, the SOLP Institute of Modern Languages, FOTILE - a private company selling kitchen appliances - and M. Aslam Sons - a private company manufacturing and selling leather products.

IBH hackers wrote a salute to Lt. Col. Niranjan and also left a picture of his daughter Vismaya.

The full message is as follows:

"This Attack is dedicated for VismayA , the Daughter of NSG Commando Lt Col Niranjan  !! A Big Salute from team IBH To the familys of brave soldiers who lost their life in Pathankot Attack !! A Small Tribute to those Brave Soldiers who Laid their Precious Life for our Country and our People !!!"

Before this incident, the last time when Indian hackers went on an attack against Pakistani sites, they defaced 125 websites as payback for the Mumbai 2008 attacks, when 10 Pakistani members of an Islamic militant organization (Lashkar-e-Taiba) carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks around the city of Mumbai. The attacks lasted for four days.
