inXile Entertainment boss Brian Fargo announced Bard Tale’s 4 today, as a sequel to the classic role-playing game series from 25 years ago.

The Bard’s Tale III was released by Interplay Entertainment back in 1988, and the upcoming reboot will feature traditional turn-based combat and will be designed to appeal to the passionate community that has been asking for it for a while now.

Wasteland 2 project lead Chris Keenan stated that the team started work on another role-playing game that would make people excited, and Brian Fargo cleared the mystery on Twitter, where he said that the game was official, and even posted The Bard’s Tale 4 logo.

He further added that he was “personally excited to be working on this.” For the time being, there aren’t any details on the upcoming project, but more will be announced later on, when the game starts its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Crowdfunding worked wonders for Wasteland 2, which came out in September last year and received good reviews and was met with excitement by players.

Fargo mentioned that the team would be focusing 100 percent of its energy on the PC version of the game, but that it was possible that it would also be coming to consoles.
