The first Windows Phone handset launched by Lanix Mexico will make its debut in the country on July 27. Lanix Mexico is one of many Microsoft partners that promised to launch Windows Phone devices this year.

Dubbed Ilium W250, the affordable smartphone will be exclusively available through carrier Telcel, MicrosoftInsider reports. Potential customers will be able to grab this one for just €97 ($106) on prepaid.

Since this is an affordable smartphone, it only packs entry-level features, so those who want to go for the Ilium W250 should not have any high expectations when it comes to specs.

First of all, the smartphone ships with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system right out of the box, but there's a high chance the OEM will offer a Windows 10 Mobile upgrade later this year after Microsoft releases it.

Hardware-wise, Ilium W250 has been confirmed to pack a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB of RAM. While this not the best hardware configuration, these components coupled with Windows Phone 8.1 will certainly offer users very smooth experience.

Sadly, the phone sports a small 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Also, the W250 packs only 8GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, the affordable Windows Phone packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a modest 1-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

There's no word on battery, but we do know it will come with 3G connectivity along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

It's also worth mentioning that Ilium W250 will be available in Mexico in three color options: Black, Red and White.
