14 DAY TRIAL // Ikea is once again making fun of Apple, and this time it’s about the wireless charging feature that was announced for the new generation of iPhones.
Some of you might be inclined to believe that wireless charging is a new thing or that Apple is doing things differently. They are not. The company just repackaged a technology that’s been around for a few years into something shiny and made it their own.
It’s not the first time Apple does this, and it won’t be the last. The good part is that sometimes other companies call on them for implementing technologies late or claiming that it’s revolutionary. Ikea is hoping that it can put a little bit of shame onto Apple by showing that they also have wireless charging.
iPhone now has technology already present in furniture
One of the most annoying thing for an iPhone fan or user it to get told that something in his phone was made available in the last year model for an Android device. Now, imagine that some technology that you’re now proudly using is also available in furniture made by Ikea, and it's been there for quite some time. That’s got to suck.
Ikea’s jabs at Apple are not direct, and they are meant to underline that they already have wireless charging. It’s doing on the back of another company, but Apple is an easy target in this regard.
To be fair, you’re only a target when you’re famous. It’s also not the first time that Ikea made fun of Apple, but the last time was about the launch of their new catalog, and they only mocked their commercial style and not a product.
Ikea doesn’t just sell wireless chargers; they incorporate it into the furniture. There are a few lamps that can provide some much-needed juice for your phone and a desk add-on. The sad truth, for Apple customers, of course, is that the wireless charging technology is around for a couple of years. The new iPhone might be pretty, but it’s got some really old tech inside it.
