As they usually do after a new iPhone is launched, iFixit ripped the 6s open to get a closer look at its insides

On the same day Apple's iPhone 6s was released on the market, iFixit got their hands on one of them and did what they do best: ripped it apart and inspected each and every component to give it a repairability score.

The battery capacity was the only unknown before the iPhone 6s launch, and according to iFixit's photos, the new iPhone comes with a 1715 mAh battery, neatly tucked under a simple to remove display secured using some Pentalobe screws colored to match the iPhone's case.

However, this moderately smaller battery when compared to the 1810 mAh one of the iPhone 6 should still give you the same battery life, with 14 hours of talk time on 3G and a standby time of 10 days.

The slightly smaller battery, in both size and capacity, should be a direct consequence of the Taptic Engine placed below, as well as the thicker 3D Touch-enabled display Apple added to its new iPhone models.

Furthermore, the layout of iPhone 6s' components is a bit different to what iFixit found inside the older iPhone 6 model, with the display featuring three connection cables instead of four.

The smaller 1715 mAh battery is the only surprise in iFixit's iPhone 6s teardown

This is about all the extra information iFixit found beside what we already knew from Apple's iPhone 6s specs page.

According to their website, the iPhone 6s comes with an A9 SoC (system on chip) coupled with an embedded M9 motion coprocessor, and a 4.7-inch Retina display with 3D Touch and 1334x750 resolution at 326 ppi.

The 6s also features a front 5 MP FaceTime camera and a 12 MP iSight camera on the back side, designed to offer support for 4K video recording.

The iPhones 6s no longer comes with the frail body of the iPhone 6 due to its case being made out of the 7000 Series aluminum used to build the enclosure of the Apple Watch Sport, and as we've seen earlier today, this was Apple's way to make sure that the iPhone 6s would not bend.

Moreover, the iPhone 6s also has an improved Touch ID Home button and an 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi‑Fi chip with Bluetooth 4.2 capability on top.

We'll keep you posted of what new information iFixit finds when they start tearing down the bigger iPhone 6s Plus in a few days.
