14 DAY TRIAL // In order to cover all price and specs ranges, Sony launched not one, but three Xperia smartphones for the remaining of the year.
We've already covered the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium, so let's take a look at what the cheapest of the three, Xperia Z5 Compact, has to offer.
First of all, it's worth mentioning that all three smartphones share many hardware components such as the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, the amount of storage (32GB) and the cameras configuration.
The main differentiator for Xperia Z5 lineup of smartphones is display. The Xperia Z5 sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display, whilst the Xperia Z5 Premium packs an amazing 5.5-inch display that supports 4K resolution.
On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact features a much smaller 4.6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating.
Smaller display and battery, lower amount of RAM
We've already mentioned the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, which is complemented by 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage expandable via microSD card (up to 200GB).
A 23-megapixel rear-facing camera is included in the Xperia Z5 Compact, which comes with many improved features in comparison with other Xperia flagship smartphones. There's also a 5.1-megapixel camera in the front that can capture full HD (1080p) video and great selfies.
Just like the other two Xperia Z5 smartphones, the Compact model is IP68 certified (dust proof and water resistant). When it comes to connectivity, Xperia Z5 Compact comes with 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC (Near Field Communication), GPS with AGPS and microUSB 2.0.
The smartphone is powered by a non-removable 2,700 mAh battery and comes preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.
According to Sony, the Xperia Z5 Compact will be available globally in October for prices starting at €600. Customers will be able to choose from four color options: White, Graphite Black, Yellow and Coral.
