CAT is specialized in launching very rugged smartphones and the new S30 is no exception to the rule. Cat S30 is the first handset announced by the company at IFA 2015, a rugged smartphone that will be available for purchase in September for €330.

Those looking for this type of phones should not expect any impressive specs even though the S30's price is a bit steep.

The main advantages of the S30 over many other smartphones are the fact that it's IP68 and MIL-SPEC 810 certified. Cat S30 is dust proof, drop proof, waterproof and scratch-resistant.

The smartphone is also oil and grease resistant, but also comes with wet-finger tracking and glove-on working technology.

Moving on to specs, Cat S30 sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the inside, the rugged handset is equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8909 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

LTE support is included too

There's also a 5-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera.

Last but not least, Cat S30 is powered by a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery, which should provide up to 18 hours of talk time or up to 39 days of standby time.

“With more companies going mobile, it’s becoming essential for smartphones to meet the demands of a full working day and the S30, caters for anyone working in challenging environments.

“As one of the new generation of Cat phones, it also bridges the gap between feature and smartphones thanks to the inclusion of physical navigation buttons alongside the 4.5-inch touchscreen at an affordable price,” said Oliver Schulte, CEO of Bullitt Mobile.
