Video claims to show the upcoming iPhone SE 2

Apple is expected to take the wraps off the second-generation iPhone SE with a 4-inch display sometime this year, though the company hasn’t dropped a single hint about such a project.

On the other hand, launching a new iPhone SE does make sense given that Apple isn’t willing to abandon the small phone category, and according to people with knowledge of the matter, the company considered several approaches in this regard.

A video that reached the web recently claims to show one such approach, with the alleged iPhone SE 2 looking like a mix of the original model and the iPhone X.

The typical iPhone 4 design uses design touches from the iPhone X, with small bezels and a vertical dual-camera layout on the back. There is no home button, and navigation appears to work just like on the iPhone X.

Fake video probably

At this point, it’s hard to tell whether this is a fake video, but if it’s not, the iPhone SE 2 could become a killer phone that could sell like hot cakes given it’s supposed to be more affordable.

But upon closer inspection, there seem to be some indication that what we have here isn’t a genuine model. Instead, it’s either an iPhone X with bumpers that give the iPhone SE look, or an Android model running a custom ROM to look like iOS.

Recent reports claimed the second-generation iPhone SE could indeed come with an iPhone X look, but instead lack more advanced features like wireless charging in order to keep the price as low as possible. It’ll be interesting to see if the iPhone SE 2, if it indeed exists, comes with a glass or metallic body given Apple’s focus on a cost-cutting strategy.

The iPhone SE 2 is likely to land in the spring, with some sources claiming a WWDC unveiling is on the table.
