Apple has released a couple of new updates for the Mac community, one of which improves the functionality of the company's productivity suite, iWork '09. Posted May 28, 2009, version 9.0.2 of iWork '09 is a free update for all iWork '09 users, and a recommended one at that.

On the Support section of its website, Apple describes iWork '09 9.0.2 as follows:

About iWork 09 9.0.2 This update improves reliability when saving some iWork documents and when playing some presentations more than once per Keynote session.

This update is recommended for all users of iWork '09.

The heavy 42.75MB software update can be applied on machines running Mac OS X 10.4.11 (the last version of Tiger available) and, according to the System Requirements for the update in question, Mac OS X 10.5.6 and later. Supported languages include Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

At the Macworld keynote in January, Apple introduced the latest version of its productivity suite of applications, iWork '09. Feature highlights included advanced object transitions, which automatically animate objects using effects, a new add-on (Magic Move), which helps users create rich animations, and more.

Keynote, Apple's presentation-focused software, now allows users to apply a simple transition to automatically animate the position, but also scale, rotate, and set the opacity of any image, graphic, or text that is repeated on consecutive slides.

In the latest version of Pages, Apple decided to add Full Screen view, appeasing those who needed to focus on their document without any distractions. The same feature helps users see the menus, format bar, and page navigator only when they need to, while an Outline Mode includes templates that help them build the framework for their document. MathType 6 support and EndNote X2 integration are also included with Pages '09.

Numbers '09 makes formula writing dramatically easier, using an enhanced function browser (which includes built-in help for over 250 functions), and visual placeholders with tool tips that explain each variable in a formula.
